Forging is one of the important methods of plastic processing of stainless steel. The main purpose of forging is: forming and modification. Here, we will introduce you the forging process of stainless steel pipe.
1. Die forging: When using stainless steel pipe as raw materials, the steel ingots should be rolled into bars in advance or used as die forging blanks after forging to eliminate the segregation, looseness and other defects in the steel ingots. After being heated, the blank is put into the die for forging, and the pressure causes the metal to flow and fill the cavity; if the blank after die forging has flash, it has to go through the steps of flushing the remaining material to complete all the forging work.
2. Free forging: Free forging can be used for special-shaped pipe fittings or stainless steel pipes that are not suitable for die forging. Free forging should forge the rough shape of the pipe fittings; such as tee, should forge its parts.
3. Cutting processing: Some cylindrical stainless steel pipes can be directly cut and formed from rods or thick-walled pipes, such as double socket pipe collars and unions. The fiber flow direction of the metal material during processing should be roughly parallel to the axis of the stainless steel tube. For tees, crosses, and elbows, bars are not allowed to be directly cut and formed.
